About

The American College of Veterinary Behaviorists (ACVB) is the certifying board for veterinarians who are specialty trained to advance the behavioral health of animals through research, science-based behavior education, and the practice of clinical behavioral medicine.

Members of the ACVB:

  • Have defined the criteria that make today’s Diplomates true specialists in veterinary behavior.
  • Are veterinarians trained to assess the relationship between a patient’s health and behavior.
  • Provide clinical treatment of behavior concerns in all animal species.
  • Have extensive knowledge of psychotropic medications, their uses, potential side effects and interactions with other medications, and are licensed to prescribe them when indicated.
  • Perform behavior research that is published in journals of education for all veterinarians.
  • Lecture nationally and internationally to provide science-based behavior education to veterinarians, veterinary students, technical staff and the public.
  • Work together to define, educate and certify the veterinary behavior specialists of the future.
